Ao Mai te Rā publications

Publications produced as part of Ao Mai te Rā | The Anti-Racism Kaupapa initiative.

The suite of documents includes empirical research and theoretical frameworks for understanding racism and anti-racism globally and within the Aotearoa New Zealand context. The suite of documents are designed to:

  • build awareness and a common understanding of the impacts and consequences of racism on health outcomes and the achievement of health equity
  • promote collective ownership and responsibility for addressing racism in the health system
  • highlight an evidence-informed pathway for how individuals and organisations can take practical steps towards addressing racism in health.

The papers do not themselves represent policy advice, nor do they necessarily represent the views of Manatū Hauora or the Government. See

Manatū Hauora's aim in publishing this suite of documents is to make these ideas available to a wider audience across the Aotearoa New Zealand health sector and to inform and encourage constructive dialogue and public debate, with the ultimate goal of informing our policy advice.
