Annual Report for the year ended 30 June 2019.

The annual report highlights our achievements against our statement of strategic intentions 2017/18-2020/21 and reports back on the activities undertaken to show the Ministry’s financial and non-financial performance. This report also demonstrates how the Ministry is progressing to deliver on its strategic priorities and shows progress made against targets and outcomes for the 2018/2019 financial year.

2018/19 has been a busy and eventful year. A year that has seen a substantial shift in the governments approach, contained many highlights and implemented significant changes all to deliver the best possible health outcomes for New Zealanders.

During this year the Ministry continued to provide leadership and stewardship to the health sector and health systems in New Zealand. As the wellbeing budget was presented, we changed how we measured our success as a country, further improved the health of our people and communities and funded programmes that improved the intergenerational wellbeing of all New Zealanders.

In addition to our core services and commitments, we delivered several key milestones this year, including the opening of a new outpatient’s facility in Christchurch and improved access to primary health care for our most vulnerable people. Details of these milestones and other key achievements, along with an overview of the Ministry of Health's financial and non-financial performance can be found within this annual report.
