The Medicines Classification Committee makes recommendations to the Minister of Health on the classifications of medicines.

Medicines Review Committee

The Medicines Review Committee makes inquiries into any objection to the terms of a recommendation made under section 22(2) of the Medicines Act 1981. It reports its findings to the Minister of Health and hears appeals under section 88 of the Act.

National Cervical Screening Programme Review Committee

A review committee is established at least every 3 years to review the operation of the National Cervical Screening Programme under Part 4A, section 112O of the Health Act 1956.

The committee focuses on the continuous quality improvement of the National Cervical Screening Programme to reduce cervical cancer incidence and mortality rates.

National Kaitiaki Group

The National Kaitiaki Group ensures protection of Māori women’s cervical screening data under the Health (Cervical Screening (Kaitiaki)) Regulations 1995(NZ Legislation website).

Notifiable Products Appeals Committee

The Notifiable Products Appeals Committee determines appeals against decisions of the Director-General of Health to cancel or suspend a product notification for a vaping or smokeless tobacco product.

It was established under section 79 of the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act 1990(NZ Legislation website).

The Psychoactive Substances Appeals Committee is established under the Psychoactive Substances Act 2013(NZ Legislation website). The committee hears appeals against decisions made by the Psychoactive Substances Regulatory Authority.

Radiation Safety Advisory Council

The Radiation Safety Advisory Council advises the Minister of Health and Director for Radiation Safety on policies, codes of practice and recommendations for radiation safety standards.

It was established under section 80 of the Radiation Safety Act 2016(NZ Legislation website).
