The Ethics Committee on Assisted Reproductive Technology (ECART) reviews and monitors applications for assisted reproductive procedures and human reproductive research.
ECART is established under section 27 of the Human Assisted Reproductive Technology (HART) Act 2004.

Advisory Committee on Assisted Reproductive Technology
The Advisory Committee on Assisted Reproductive Technology (ACART) provides independent advice to the Minister of Health. It issues guidelines and advice to the Ethics Committee on Assisted Reproductive Technology about reproductive procedures and research that need ethical approval.
ACART is established under section 32 of the Human Assisted Reproductive Technology (HART) Act 2004.

Health and Disability Ethics Committees
Health and Disability Ethics Committees independently review the ethics of health and disability research. This is to safeguard the rights, health and wellbeing of consumers and research participants.
There are 4 Health and Disability Ethics Committees in New Zealand:
- Northern A
- Northern B
- Central
- Southern.
Health and Disability Ethics Committees are established under section 87 of the Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022.

National Ethics Advisory Committee – Kāhui Matatika o te Motu
The National Ethics Advisory Committee (NEAC) advises the Minister of Health about ethical issues relating to health and disability. It also develops ethical standards for the health sector and scrutinises health research and services.
NEAC is established under section 92 of the Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022.
