Your responsibilities under the Radiation Safety Act 2016

For information on requirements for possessing and managing radiation sources, refer to the pages listed under ‘In this section’ below.

If you manage radiation sources, you are required to do the following under the Radiation Safety Act 2016.

Licencing and registration

Safe storage and security

  • Store radiation sources safely and securely. Refer to the appropriate codes of practice.

Transport

  • Transport radioactive material safely and securely. Refer to the appropriate codes of practice and to the Road transport of radioactive material guidance.
  • Transport irradiating apparatus safely and securely.
