Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Amendment Bill - related Cabinet papers

The Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (the Act) is about public safety. Its purpose is to protect the health and safety of members of the public by providing mechanisms to ensure the life-long competence of health practitioners.

The Bill amended the Act to ‘clarify its interpretation and improve its operation’. There are details of provisions of the Act amended by the Bill in paragraph five of the Approval for Introduction paper. 

The Bill has also been amended; the two changes are detailed in paragraph four of the Supplementary Order Paper.
