The Registrar (assisted dying) is as an important safeguard under the End of Life Choice Act 2019.

They also investigate complaints about the Assisted Dying Service, and may refer your complaint to the appropriate agency.

The Registrar is appointed by the Director-General of Health. They are supported by the Ministry of Health’s Assisted Dying Secretariat.

Annual report on the Assisted Dying Service

The Registrar reports to the Minister of Health on the operation of the Assisted Dying Service by 30 June each year.
