Tobacco control publications

This publication shows how New Zealand is progressing towards being smokefree in 2025 by providing a snapshot of tobacco use in New Zealand, using data from the 2012/13 New Zealand Health Survey.

A series of educational videos answering common questions and offering support to general practice for the more heart and diabetes checks and better help for smokers to quit health targets has been developed.

The Government has agreed in principle to introduce a plain packaging regime for tobacco, subject to the outcome of a consultation process. The attached document sets out the Government's proposal and rationale for plain packaging.

This booklet provides an overview of Māori smoking and tobacco use compared with non-Māori. It uses findings from the 2009 New Zealand Tobacco Use Survey, presented with easy-to-use statistical information.
