Tā Mark Solomon
Chair
Tā Mark Solomon (Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Kurī) is the Chair of Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu, the Whānau Ora commissioning agency for the South Island. Tā Mark was the elected Kaiwhakahaere (Chair) of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu from 1998 to December 2016 and represented his local Papatipu Rūnanga, Te Rūnanga o Kaikōura from 1995 to December 2016.
In 2013, he was recognised as Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to Māori and Business. He was previously deputy Chair of Canterbury District Health Board, and is also founding Chairman of the Māori Carbon Collective.
Lisa Tumahai
Lisa Tumahai (Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Waewae, Makaawhio) is Kaiwhakahaere (chair) of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu and Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu representative for Ngāti Waewae Rūnanga.
She has been a member of the Te Rūnanga board since 2001 and has held the position of Kaiwhakahaere since April 2016. She is also a Director of Te Ara Pounamu Limited and has been Deputy Chair of the Climate Change Commission since 2019.
Amohaere Houkamau
Amohaere Houkamau (Ngati Porou, with affiliations to Rongowhakaata, Ngāti Kahungunu and Ngāti Mutunga ki Taranaki) is currently the General Manager of Rongowhakaata Trust. Her governance experience includes the Lotteries Commission, Māori Television Board, and Tairawhiti Development Partnership.
She has sat on a Ministerial Advisory Committee on Housing and has been a member of the Local Government Association Advisory Group on effective engagement with Iwi/Māori. Ms Houkamau also held the role of CEO of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Porou previously.
Dr Jamie-Lee Rahiri
Dr Jamie-Lee Rahiri (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara, Te Ātihaunui-a-Pāpārangi) is a general surgical trainee based at Te Whatu Ora Waitematā, kaupapa Māori clinical researcher, and mother, who brings an academic and clinical background. She served as the Trainee Representative on the Indigenous Health Committee for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons from 2020 and Director of Te Piringa Kōtuku, Tuhauora Medical Associates.
Te Ururoa Flavell
Te Ururoa Flavell (Ngāti Rangiwewehi, Ngāraranui, Ngāti Te Ata, Ngāti Raukawa) is a leader, educator, manager and former politician. He was a member of Parliament for the Waiariki electorate from 2005 until 2017 and a Cabinet Minister from 2014 to 2017. Hon Dr Flavell was appointed to the Social Investment Board in 2024 and holds Chair and membership positions on various governance boards, including Te Arawa Lakes Trust, Te Arawa Whānau Ora and Te Whare Wananga o Te Arawa Charitable Trust.
Tereki Stewart
Tereki Stewart (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Whātua, Te Roroa) has extensive knowledge, understanding and experience in advancing Māori health outcomes and the application of data and analytics for decision making, along with considerable primary care executive leadership experience.
Mr Stewart is connected to iwi and Māori communities through his governance roles (such as National Iwi Chairs Forum) and as Chair of Te Taumata Hauora o Te Kahu o Taonui (Iwi Māori Partnership Board for Far North and Auckland). Mr Stewart is a Board member of the Health Quality & Safety Commission (June 2023).
His past governance roles included appointments to Auckland and Waitematā DHB advisory committees. Mr Stewart is a member of the Māori Monitoring Group (an internal Māori health sector advisory group to the Ministry of Health).
Dr Matire Harwood
Matire (Ngāpuhi) , is the Deputy Dean for the Faculty of Medical and health Sciences, University of Auckland; and continues to practice one day a week as a GP. She has served on several national Boards and Advisory Committees including Waitematā District Health Board, Health Research Council, and the Primary Care Strategy group at the Ministry of Health.
Matire has received national and international awards across research, teaching and clinical work, including the King’s Service Medal in June 2024 for her contribution to Māori health.
She has 200+ research publications, teaches in the medical programme and supervises postgraduate students.
Margareth Broodkoorn
Margareth Broodkoorn (Ngāpuhi, Dutch) is a registered nurse, with ten years solid nursing experience before moving into various health management positions, including with Hauora Hokianga from 2008 to 2010, and Director of Nursing and Midwifery with Northland DHB to 2019.
She is currently Chief Executive of the Hokianga Health Community Trust and was previously Chief Nursing Officer of NZ with Ministry of Health.
