The Government amended the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act 1990 to prohibit smoking in vehicles carrying children under the age of 18.

This will reduce children’s exposure to secondhand smoke in the motor vehicles they travel in and is expected to protect children from the risk of serious medical conditions associated with exposure to tobacco smoke.
