Māori health Hauora Māori

Increasing access to health services, achieving equity and improving outcomes for Māori.

Convened by the Public Health Agency, the group brings together health agencies, communities, and sector partners to strengthen relationships, align priorities, monitor progress, and support evidence-based action.

Members inform strategic priorities, monitor progress, mobilise resources, identify risks, and champion collaborative approaches across the sector.

The Steering Group is guided by four principles

  • Relationship-centred: Working together positively towards shared goals.
  • Strengths-based: Drawing on opportunities and solutions within and outside the health system.
  • Community-driven: Valuing the voices and strengths of whānau and communities.
  • Evidence-led: Grounding decisions in learning from experience.
