This publication reports on the Ministry’s first survey of people with disabilities living in Ministry-funded residential services.

The survey tool was based on the Schalock Quality of Life Framework adapted for the New Zealand environment. Seventeen people with disabilities conducted face to face interviews with 332 people living in residential services in the Auckland, Manawatu and Wellington areas.

While the overall satisfaction with services was relatively high (average score of 84 out of 100), the feedback included opportunities for improvement which will be useful to both service providers and the Ministry of Health.
