The current Primary Maternity Services Notice 2007 sets out the terms, services and fee structures for primary maternity care providers.
Implementing new funding of $85 million (over four years) allocated in Budget 2020 requires changes to the Notice, in order to deliver funding for additional primary maternity services to women with complex needs, and to women living in rural areas.
The Ministry of Health undertook a public consultation on proposed changes to the existing Notice from 4 September to 13 November 2020.
The amended Notice will come into effect in the second half of 2021.
