Current situation

Omicron outbreak

There are some cases of Omicron in the community and to manage this we are changing our approach. There is new guidance on things you can do to protect yourself and your community. All households and businesses are encouraged to make a plan and prepare.

COVID-19 vaccinations

New Zealand’s vaccination rate has reached 95 percent for first doses and 93 percent for second doses. Tamariki who are 5 to 11-year-olds can now receive the COVID-19 vaccine and boosters are available for people 18 and over who have had two doses of COVID-19 vaccine at least four months ago. COVID-19 cases

There are active cases of COVID-19 in the community in both the North Island and the South Island. Anyone who returns a positive COVID-19 test is required to remain isolated as directed (see Section 70).
