The Director for Radiation Safety (the Director) has temporarily paused work on analysing the public submissions received during public consultation on the proposed revised Code of Practice for Radiation Therapy: ORS C3.

Background
The Director for Radiation Safety (the Director) invites public consultation on the revised C3. The revised C3 sets out the Director’s proposals for revision.
The Radiation Safety Act 2016 (the Act) is administered by the Ministry of Health –Manatū Hauora (the Ministry).
Section 86(1) of the Act allows the Director to issue codes of practice. This is for the purpose of specifying technical requirements.
Code of Practice for Radiation Therapy: ORS C3 (C3) first became effective as of 9 August 2019. Section 90(a) of the Act requires the Director to review a code of practice at least once every five years.
Section 89(2) of the Act requires that the Director consult with any person who the Director reasonably considers is likely to be affected by a proposed amendment or revocation to a code of practice.
The Director has produced a revised C3 as part of the statutorily required review of C3.
This document sets out for public consultation a revised C3.
The Director has temporarily paused the work on analysing the public submissions received during the consultation.
Next steps
Once the work to complete the analysis of public submissions is re-commissioned and finished, the Ministry intends to fully consider all submissions before providing a revised ORS C3 for further consultation.
