The 2020/21 Annual Report summarises the Ministry’s major work programmes and achievements, and demonstrates our progress towards our Strategic Intentions 2017/21, and the strategic objectives set out in Ta Tatou Rautaki | Our Strategy and Pae Ora | Healthy Futures.
During the year, the Ministry led New Zealand’s health response to the COVID-19 global pandemic, stewarded the health and disability system through other emergencies, and responded to issues of importance that have arisen in the health system. The Ministry also continued to deliver on an ambitious work programme whilst balancing an enabling approach to support the health sector's response and recovery from the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic while at the same time adequately managing risk.
The Annual Report summarises our financial performance for the year, presents the results of our non-financial performance measures, and meets our reporting requirements under the Public Finance Act 1989.
The Annual Report is complemented by the Vote Health: Report in relation to selected non-departmental appropriations for the year ended 30 June 2021, which is the Minister’s report on the financial and non-financial performance of the non-departmental appropriations that the Ministry administers on behalf of the Crown.
