The Suicide Prevention Action Plan 2025-2029 (the Action Plan) sets out the 21 Health-led actions and 12 cross-agency actions that will be undertaken to prevent suicide.

The Ministry of Health – Suicide Prevention Office is responsible for monitoring progress on the Action Plan. The Ministry reports quarterly to the Minister for Mental Health and annually to Cabinet on agencies’ progress in implementing actions committed to under the Action Plan. As they are produced, these reports will be made available on this page.

Quarterly updates

Quarterly updates are prepared for the Minister for Mental Health and provide a snapshot of agencies’ progress implementing actions they are responsible for during each period. These updates include summarised details of the actions, commentary on progress, and key milestones.

Note that the content is accurate at the time of development, but subject to change as implementation progresses.
