This paper provides an update on the ongoing challenges facing the health system, including service delivery constraints and workforce pressures. It also outlines progress made on stabilising Health New Zealand’s (Health NZ) financial position and the need for early Ministerial direction to Health NZ in the planning cycle to ensure additional funding builds on current momentum and delivers on Government priorities.
