About us

Hokonui Runanga Health and Social Services Trust provides a non-judgmental, free and confidential service to identify and assess health and lifestyle related needs and to coordinate, link and support clients to health and disability support services in the community.

Based in Gore, Hokonui Runanga Health and Social Services Trust supports the health and well being of the Eastern Southland community. A community health field worker, youth educator and beneficiaries advocates work together with clients and various community services to enhance the existing health and social services and improve the health and wellbeing of the Hokonui community by providing quality health, social and educational services.

Health and disability services we offer

Kaumātua Health Day: Every Thursday at the rūnanga a health day is held for kaumātua (elderly) which includes whānau support, fitness and physical activities, massage, wae wae (foot) clinic and Health Promotion presentations with access to medical and nursing personnel clinics held monthly.

Manaaki Nursing Services: Young Mums & Bubs: for mums under 25 years old and their whānau, early intervention programme aiming to assist families increase their health status. Provide a supportive environment in order to ensure young women and their partners have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide the best possible care for their children and whānau. Including: breastfeeding promotion, smoking cessation, family violence screening, drugs and alcohol, antenatal, parenting advise, nutrition and mental health education.

Youth Advocacy Services: offering counselling, advocacy, support and referrals; also holiday programmes.

Whānau Ora: Supporting individuals and families to improve their health status, independence and quality of life for people living with illness or disabilities, by developing and implementing individual health plans. Which include: referrals and transport and mobility services.
