Routine compliance monitoring is scheduled by the Director for Radiation Safety (the Director) and conducted by enforcement officers appointed under the Radiation Safety Act 2016 (the Act). In most cases, compliance monitoring is conducted using announced, on-site, inspections.

Codes of practice are issued in accordance with sections 86 to 90 of the Radiation Safety Act 2016 (the Act). Codes of practice are secondary legislation and form part of the radiation safety requirements established by the Act.
