The Schedule outlines the 12 core visits delivered as part of the Well / Child Tamariki Ora Programme to protect and improve health outcomes for New Zealand children, from birth to 5 years.
The Schedule outlines:
- health and development assessments for the child
- family and whānau care and support
- relevant health education material.
The Schedule also includes a general practitioner check at 6 weeks that is linked to babies’ 6-week immunisations.
Health and development assessments relate specifically to babies and children and focuses on their health, wellbeing and development. Family and whānau support looks at interventions, referrals and support for babies, children, their families and whānau. The list of health education resources are grouped by subject, relevant to each core visit.
Read the Schedule in conjunction with the Well Child / Tamariki Ora Programme Practitioner Handbook (Ministry of Health 2013).
The Well Child / Tamariki Ora My Health Book for parents has been updated to reflect the revised handbook and Schedule.
