Technical Guidelines for Tuberculin Skin Test

From 2015 to 2018 there was a global shortage of BCG vaccine due to manufacturing issues, which affected New Zealand and many other countries. Following the re-introduction of the vaccine, the Ministry recommends all new and existing gazetted BCG vaccinators complete the Tuberculosis BCG vaccination online course.

This publication complements the online course by providing practical advice on tuberculin skin testing. It includes:

• administering the test
• measuring and recording reactions
• interpreting results.
