This report presents the activities and recommendations of the National Maternity Monitoring Group (NMMG) in their fifth year of operation, 2016/17.
The Director-General of Health established the NMMG in 2012 to oversee New Zealand's maternity system, and specifically, the implementation of the New Zealand Maternity Standards.
The NMMG:
- acts as a strategic advisor to the Ministry of Health on areas for improvement in the maternity sector
- provides a national overview of the quality and safety of New Zealand's maternity services.
