Maternity Factsheet, 2001–2010, is the first maternity publication reporting on data from the recently completed National Maternity Collection. The National Maternity Collection includes data from hospital-based maternity events, birth registrations, and community-based primary care.

Findings:
- National Maternity Collection coverage is approximately equal to BDM live birth registrations from 2001 onwards (+/-2%)
- Pacific women had the highest birthrate. 11.4 percent of Pacific women of reproductive age gave birth in the 2010 calendar year
- Residential areas of greater deprivation had higher proportions of younger mothers
- Residential areas of greater deprivation had higher proportions of mothers that smoked at the time of Lead Maternity Carer registration.
