This standard defines an electronic document type for conveying maternity booking information from lead maternity carers' practice management systems to the national Maternity Clinical Information System (MCIS) used by district health boards.
This technical standard for interoperability is designed to enable information exchange between lead maternity carers’ community based practice management systems and the national Maternity Clinical Information System (MCIS) used by district health boards.
This first part of the standard defines the subset of maternity information that is sent to the MCIS in order to create a booking with a maternity facility on behalf of the pregnant woman. The standard comprises a data set specification and HL7 Clinical Document Architecture templates for the electronic message content.
Please note that this is an old standard and its use is contained. The standard has been superseded by HISO 10050.2:2020 Maternity Care Summary Standard. It is no longer updated and should not be used in the development of new systems.
