Summary

Consultation on the Direct-to-Consumer Advertising of Prescription Medicines in New Zealand: Consultation Document took place during March and April 2006. The consultation document reviewed the policy debate on direct-to-consumer advertising of prescription medicines (DTCA) as it relates to New Zealand, outlining the current policy for DTCA, the Therapeutic Products Advertising Code, and provided three options for the future regulation of DTCA in New Zealand.

This document summarises the feedback the Ministry received on the consultation document. The feedback from the consultation provided important and useful information that fed into the process of advising the Government on the future regulation of DTCA in New Zealand. It should be noted that this document is not a reflection of the Ministry’s position on DTCA; it simply presents the feedback received on the consultation document.
