Code of Practice for Dental Radiology ORS C4: For consultation.

The Radiation Safety Act 2016 (the Act) is administered by the Manatū Hauora – the Ministry of Health (the Ministry).

The Code of Practice for Dental Radiology ORS C4 (C4) was issued by the Director for Radiation Safety (the Director) under section 86 of the Act. C4 specifies technical requirement necessary to comply with the fundamental requirements in sections 8 to 12 of the Act.

Following section 90(a) of the Act C4 is being reviewed by the Director. Section 90(b) of the Act requires that the Director consults any person who the Director reasonably considers is likely to be affected a review of a code of practice. Following section 90(b) of the Act a revised C4 is provided for consultation in this document.

Also, a survey is appended to the revised C4. This will assist people who wish to make a submission as part of consultation. The survey is also available online. The survey provides a guide only and a submitter is free to provide any information that the submitter considers to be relevant.

Consultation period is closed

Submissions closed at 4.00 pm, Friday 2 June 2023.

The Ministry’s Office of Radiation Safety will analyse and respond to feedback arising from the consultation. Following the analysis of in-scope submissions, consideration will be given to making improvements to the revised C4.

The review of C4 will be completed before 28 June 2023.
