Eligibility for the new graduate BCP 

 

This one-off flat rate payment of $5000 for 2023/24 is called the NGBCP. It is intended to be a contribution to the business start-up costs that newly graduated LMC midwives incur.  

 

For new graduate LMC midwives, the eligibility criteria are that you must: 

 

  • be New Zealand trained and have graduated from a New Zealand training institution after 1 January 2023 
  • have first registered with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand after 1 January 2023
  • have applied for and received an authorisation to claim for primary maternity services under the Primary Maternity Services Notice 2021 (the Notice) from the Te Whatu Ora 
  • intend to provide primary maternity services under the Notice, as indicated by your intention to provide full LMC services to at least one client per month post receiving your authorisation to claim
  • not have previously claimed or been sent a Business Contribution Payment (BCP) offer.
