Codes of safe practice according to the Radiation Protection Act 1965 for radiation use

These codes of practice stipulate minimum legal requirements that must be satisfied by users. Compliance with the codes is a condition on licences to use radioactive material or irradiating apparatus.

These codes were issued under the Radiation Protection Act 1965. ORS has replaced some of the CSPs with the new ORS codes of practice under the Radiation Safety Act 2016 in 2019. More information on the new codes and the draft codes that will repeal the following codes of safe practice is available on the Codes of Practice section.

Superseded Codes

Some of the use licences still refer to the following superseded CSPs. We advise the user licensees to comply with the new codes of practice under the Radiation Safety Act 2016. These CSPs may be referred to as guidance notes if necessary.
