Population Health Services (Waikato District Health Board), Bay of Plenty District Health Board and Toi te Ora Public Health were successful in receiving funding from the Ministry's Health Impact Assessment Support Unit to facilitate health impact assessment training in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions.
The aim of the training was to support Waikato and Bay of Plenty districts in developing Health Impact Assessment (HIA) capacity and capability.
The activities carried out using the funding included a Waikato two-day HIA training held in Hamilton in late November 2008; and a Bay of Plenty region two-day HIA training held in February 2009 in Rotorua. A powerpoint presentation was also created as a result of the project. The aim of the presentation was to promote the use of HIA methodology in each district.
