Newborn hearing screening data standard
Your baby may have screening before leaving the hospital and at the latest, screening should be finished by the time baby is 1 month old.
HISO is supporting the Ministry of Health’s Universal Newborn Hearing Screening and Early Intervention Programme (UNHSEIP) in the development of a data standard to support newborn hearing screening.
The UNHSEIP aims to identify newborns with hearing loss early so they can get the help they need as soon as possible to help their language, learning and social development.
The standard will detail the required data to be captured to support operational delivery of the UNHSEIP and national consistent monitoring of service delivery and screener practice. For more information, contact standards@health.govt.nz.
