Thrombocytopenia in pregnancy

Patient has a history of thrombocytopenia during pregnancy.  Admitted in early labour, on routine blood count platelets are 128 (up from 90 on community test a week previously). No further platelet levels were taken during the labour and delivery and no transfusion was given.

Should the diagnosis codes for pregnancy complicated by thrombocytopenia be assigned in this case?


No.  As per ACS 0010 General Abstraction guidelines and ACS 0002 Additional diagnoses – conditions noted in obstetric cases, the condition must meet the criteria in these standards.
