What postprocedural complication code is assigned for complications of skin flaps – particularly, ‘infection of skin flap’ and ‘haematoma of skin flap’?
Response
Significant revisions for postprocedural complications occurred with the introduction of ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS Eleventh Edition. Therefore, as per the ICD-10-AM Alphabetic Index and classification conventions code T85.78 Infection and inflammatory reaction due to other internal prosthetic devices, implants and grafts and T85.83 Haemorrhage and haematoma following insertion of other prosthetic devices, implants and grafts are to be assigned for infection of skin flap and haematoma of skin flap respectively.
