What is My Health Account?

My Health Account is Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand’s digital health identity service that connects you to your health information online and lets you securely access digital health services from anywhere. The service is available to all people in New Zealand aged 12 years and over.

Digital identity is how you can prove who you are online in a safe, secure, and easily accessible way.

Why you need a My Health Account

Sign up for a My Health Account to get the most out of the digital health services you use.

My Health Account enables digital health services to accurately identify you as an individual health consumer. It connects you to your personal health information online, such as getting easy access to your COVID-19 test results and your vaccination status. My Health Account means we can be sure that only you can access and manage your health information.

Over time, other digital health services will be linked to My Health Account. Read more about My Health Account’s current connected digital health services.

You can find out more about how we collect, store, and share your information in our Privacy statement.

If you don’t want to create a My Health Account, there are several ways you can still access your health information. We recommend you contact your GP or specialist healthcare provider.

Benefits of a My Health Account

By having a digital health identity, you can be confident that you are the only person who can access your personal health information online.

My Health Account has been developed to keep your personal health information secure and private. It allows you to keep control of your data and lets you choose when and with whom your information is shared. Through My Health Account, you can gain access to essential online health services and information via a trusted, secure platform, and share your health information with the health professionals you choose.

Some parents over 18 years of age can also have access to some of their child’s or children’s important health information by adding a child or children to their My Health Account.
