    The Director-General of Health’s Annual Report is presented it to the House of Representatives under section 44 of the Public Finance Act 1989. The report includes detail on the Ministry's financial and non-financial performance over the past year.

    This publication presents the New Zealand government’s refreshed strategy for services to improve the health of New Zealand people and communities. It has two parts: Future Direction lays the 10-year vision for the Strategy and the five themes that guides the Strategy; and Roadmap of Actions 2016 that identifies 27 areas for action to make the Strategy happen.

    The Health and Independence Report 2015 provides an overview of the state of New Zealander’s health, including how well the health and disability system is performing. We focus on a number of high profile areas for the health and disability system, including pregnancy and early childhood, mental health and well-being, and vulnerable groups.

  • Statement of Intent 2015 to 2019
    Published 30 June 2015
    The Statement of Intent identifies outcomes for the health system and the Ministry: New Zealanders live longer, healthier and more independent lives; the health system is cost-effective and supports a productive economy.
  • Briefing to the Minister of Health

    This briefing provides the incoming Minister with an overview of the health and disability system as at October 2014. It describes the major organisations and structures in the system, along with their roles, functions and responsibilities.
