GRx success stories – Pam Wilson
Little did Christchurch’s Pam Wilson know that a year after she went to the “Celebrating International Older Persons Day” at Papanui High School she would have lost 17kg’s and had her blood pressure medication halved.
Pam came across the Green Prescription stand and the rest is history. Pam’s only regret is “I wish I had known about this years ago and not waited until I was 70 years old.”

Pam joined Green Prescription’s BE ACTIVE programme at the St Albans- Shirley club.
Designed to help people increase their activity, the 10 week BE ACTIVE programmes offer participants the chance to try out a range of activities and have fun along the way.
Looking back, Pam found Be Active very informative and what she enjoyed most was the chance to try new things. Her week now includes a circuit class at the YMCA, Aqua jogging and a healthy cooking class. She enjoys the continued contact with Green Prescription and attending more new activities along the way. Pam found value in being part of a group who were all motivated to support each others journey and loved sharing healthy eating ideas.
According to her son she no longer puffs when she goes to the shopping mall and Pam finds she can now shop at lots of new clothing shops. She is also getting good at sewing, taking in her skirts! Pam hopes others give Be Active a go for support to “Get going and do things”.
Pam is pleased and proud of her achievements and so she should be, well done Pam!
