Statement of Strategic Intentions 2017-2021

The Statement of Strategic Intentions 2017-2021 is prepared in accordance with sections 38 and 40 of the Public Finance Act 1989.

It outlines the Ministry of Health’s strategic intentions over the next ten years and the actions that will be undertaken as the Ministry engages and works with public service agencies, the wider health and disability sector and communities to improve, promote and protect the health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders.

The Ministry’s strategic intentions are closely linked with the New Zealand Health Strategy and the revised New Zealand Disability Strategy.

The Ministry has identified five strategic priorities and associated initiatives to contribute to the direction set out in the New Zealand Health Strategy. This document outlines how the Ministry is going to achieve its strategic goals and what actions it will implement to work with other agencies to deliver positive health outcomes for all New Zealanders.
