Like Minds, Like Mine National Plan 2007-2013
Summary
Like Minds, Like Mine is a programme to reduce the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness.
The programme, which began in 1997, is led by the Ministry of Health and delivered by national and regional organisations. It combines community action at a local level with nationwide strategies and media work, including a television advertising campaign.
Like Minds has been successful at increasing awareness and changing attitudes, but people still experience discrimination in many areas of their everyday lives.
The Like Minds, Like Mine National Plan 2007-2013 updates the previous national plan and outlines the direction of Like Minds until 2013. It includes societal, organisational and individual level outcomes, along with a number of actions and approaches to reduce stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness.
