How to apply for a Certificate in Public Health Fees Grants

New students

If you have never applied for the Certificate in Public Health fees grants you must:

  • Apply for academic admission on the Massey University website.
  • Have the residence status of a New Zealand domestic student. Read more on the Massey University website.
  • Be currently employed in a public health role
  • Be employed in a public health role an average of 20 hours per week1
  • Be committed to remaining in public health
  • Have a signed study support agreement from your manager.

Complete fees grant application form

After you complete the fees grant application form, your manager will be sent the study support agreement form to fill in.

Returning students

Fees and travel grants are available for two years from when grants were initially awarded. Students can complete the Certificate in Public Health over more than two years. The fees grants are not available for more than two years per student.

You do not need to reapply for your fee grant if you have:

  • Applied for and been awarded fees grants in the past 18 months
  • Have a valid study support agreement from your current employer
  • Successfully completed all academic courses to date.

Your fees grant will automatically be assigned to your account once you register at Massey University, start your course and give written consent for Massey University and the Ministry of Health to share your information. If you unsure of the status of your fees grant please contact:

If you have been awarded a fees grant and you receive an individual fee account please contact:

If you do not automatically meet the returning student criteria because you:

  • Applied for and been awarded fees grants at least 24 months ago
  • Do not have a valid study support agreement from your current employer
  • Have not successfully complete all academic courses enrolled in to date

Please urgently contact Massey University administration for advice on what to do.

You may be required to reapply for a fees grant by writing to the Ministry of Health (with supporting documents) to consider extending your fees grants. There is no guarantee of extensions.

Complete fees grant application form

After you complete the fees grant application form, your manager will be sent the study support agreement form to fill in.

Should applications be received by those in voluntary roles these will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
