Pacific health work programmes
The Ministry’s Pacific Health work programmes recognise the need to improve Pacific peoples’ health outcomes, and reduce inequalities experienced by Pacific peoples in accessing health and disability services.
The work is mandated by the Government's health and disability strategies, the Minister's priorities, and health targets.
The Clinical Director Pacific Health provides leadership and guidance both to the Pacific health sector and across the Ministry of Health. The role of the Clinical Director Pacific Health is supported by the Pacific Programme Implementation team and is located in the Sector Capability and Implementation Business Unit.
Pacific Programme Implementation
The Pacific Programme Implementation team works within the Ministry and with the Pacific health sector to foster innovation and best practice and support capability development. This includes facilitating referral and links to Pacific health expertise across the health sector. Consulting and networking with Pacific communities, government agencies, advisory bodies and Pacific provider development are also key responsibilities.
