Nursing initiatives
Nurses in New Zealand are committed to reducing inequalities in health, improving health outcomes and continuously improving the quality of the care they provide.
At government and district health board level, nurses work to align consumer needs with health policies and strategies, and with appropriate models of nurse leadership and models of care.
Nurses make a major contribution to the delivery of a mix of services for rural, urban, Māori, Pacific and Asian communities. These services include primary health care, the prevention and management of long-term conditions, maternity, child and adolescent health, mental health, palliative care, services for older people and for people with disabilities.
