NZMAT training opportunities

NZMAT offers a number of training opportunities for NZMAT personnel who have completed the initial Team Member course.

Before potential volunteers deploy with NZMAT, they are required to complete a Team Member course which is by invitation only.

Please note that in the event of NZMAT being deployed in response to an incident, courses may be subsequently suspended or postponed at short notice.

Group gathered around a table on a training course. Team Member Course (prerequisite for deployment)

This course is designed to provide participants with exposure to a range of essential techniques and skills which will be required when deployed into the field after a sudden onset disaster or public health emergency. The course involves a simulation exercise. Participants are required to attend all days and lectures of this course.

The course is a mixed mode delivery with pre-course learning, faculty presentations, workshops and simulation exercises.

Participants are selected through a comprehensive selection process and invited to participate on the course. Attendance on the Team Member Course does not guarantee deployment.

Note: Completing the Team Member Course does not guarantee you are eligible for deployment as participation on the course is only one part of the selection process to be accepted as a member of NZMAT.
