Types of HIA training in New Zealand
The University of Otago provides two HIA training opportunities in its Wellington Summer School programme.
- The first is a two day introduction to health impact assessment . This course introduces HIA which aids decision-making by predicting the potential effects of policies, programmes and projects on health, wellbeing and health inequalities.
- The second is a two day course on Advanced HIA. The focus of this interactive workshop depends on the needs of the HIA community and current issues. The 2012 workshop focussed on HIA and planning, especially in the context of the Local Government Act and the Resource Management Act.
More information about the programme is available on the University of Otago website.
