ICT common capabilities

The Government Chief Information Officer (GCIO) has described ICT common capability as any technology that could be used by more than one agency, or across the whole of government, to support the delivery of business outcomes. The government strategy and supporting work programme sets the direction for all ICT common capabilities. There are a number of ICT products and services available through the GCIO.

Investment by the Ministry in health specific products or services has delivered a number consumable services that support identity management. Further investment will be required to deliver a full range of services managed by the Ministry to support the sector. These services cover:

  • identity management – patient, provider, organisation/facility
  • address validation
  • enrolment
  • medical warning/alerts & allergies.
