Te Ao Mārama Group is a group of external advisors that supports the implementation of Whāia Te Ao Mārama: The Māori Disability Action Plan and provides advice to the Ministry on issues that affect Māori disabled. The group includes Māori with disabilities and Māori that work within the sector.
The purpose of Te Ao Mārama Group is to:
- support the implementation of the Whāia Te Ao Mārama: The Māori Disability Action Plan 2012–2017
- monitor the implementation of the plan and provide advice to the Ministry regarding the effectiveness of the plan’s implementation in improving the lives of Māori and their whānau
- provide advice and support to the Ministry of Health on issues relating to Māori disabled and their whānau.
The group meets every 6 months.
