The Government’s Smartstart website was recognised at this year’s Institute of Public Administration New Zealand (IPANZ) Excellence Awards. It won in the Excellence in Achieving Collective Impact category.
The awards are the public sector’s Oscars and celebrate outstanding achievements and showcase the significant contribution the public sector makes to New Zealand and New Zealanders.
Launched last year, Smartstart is a website that brings together all the Government services that new parents need. Everything from finding a new lead maternity carer to getting a child’s IRD number. The website was jointly developed by the Department of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Health and Inland Revenue. The New Zealand College of Midwives and Plunket were also involved in the project.
This website is the first project in the Life Events programme which aims to give people easier access to information across public services and the ability to carry out transactions online.
