Shorter stays in emergency departments
- 95 percent of patients will be admitted, discharged, or transferred from an emergency department within six hours.
Improved access to elective surgery
- The volume of elective surgery will be increased by an average 4000 discharges per year (compared with the previous average increase of 1400 per year).
Shorter waits for cancer treatment
- Everyone needing radiation treatment will have this within four weeks of first specialist radiation oncology assessment.
Increased immunisation
- 95 percent of two year olds will be fully immunised by July 2012.
Better help for smokers to quit
- 95 percent of hospitalised smokers will be provided with advice and help to quit by July 2012.
- 90 percent of enrolled patients who smoke and are seen in general practice will be provided with advice and help to quit by July 2012.
Better diabetes and cardiovascular services/ More heart and diabetes checks
Better diabetes and cardiovascular services
- 90 percent of the eligible adult population will have had their cardiovascular-disease risk assessed in the last five years.
- Increased percent of people with diabetes will attend free annual checks.
- Increased percent of people with diabetes will have satisfactory or better diabetes management.
More heart and diabetes checks (from 1 January 2012)
- 90 percent of the eligible population will have had their cardiovascular risk assessed in the last five years (from 1 January 2012). DHBs are required to achieve at least 75 percent by 1 July 2013, and DHBs exceeding 75 percent are expected to be actively moving toward the 90 percent goal.
