Guide to our new website – www.health.govt.nz
We are pleased to introduce you to the new www.health.govt.nz website, which aims to be more user-friendly, with improved navigation and search function making information easier to find.
This new website replaces moh.govt.nz. It contains information previously on that site, and more. Re-directs are in place from moh.govt.nz to www.health.govt.nz.
This page explains the layout of the new website, including the key differences between this and the old site. Information has been brought across from moh.govt.nz and reorganised with a new site structure to better meet the needs of our different website users.
Site layout
The www.health.govt.nz website is divided into seven main sections, which can be accessed through tabs at the top of each page:
- Home – The home page provides regularly updated information on key areas of current focus, the latest news headlines and quick links to publications, popular guides and tools. It has quick navigation aids to help you get to other sections on the site.
- Our work – this section has information on the Ministry’s work in specific health and disability programmes, projects, regulation and other areas.
- NZ health system – this section provides an overview of the network of organisations and people delivering health and disability services in NZ.
- Health statistics – this section is a central location for accessing New Zealand health data and health statistics collected and produced by the Ministry of Health and wider health sector.
- Publications – this section enables you to easily find publications from the Ministry. An advanced publications search so you can find what you are looking for by subject and date and apply filters to refine search results.
- News & media – this section has the latest news and media releases from the Ministry plus access to an archive.
- About us – this section is about the Ministry of Health's role to improve, promote and protect the health of New Zealanders.
You will also find the following links at the top of the page:
- Jobs - See the latest jobs at Ministry of Health.
- Contact us – Contact details for the Ministry of Health and our feedback form.
- Site map - Get your bearings on the website by using the site map.
- Accessibility - Read the accessibility features of the new site.
At the bottom of the page you can see:
- Other Ministry sites – access other Ministry websites.
- Site details – more about this site.
- Where to go for help – emergency and other quick contact details.
Getting around the site:
Each key section of the website has a tab at the top of the page. This takes you to a section overview page, where you can browse or search topics.

- Other sections of the website can also be accessed from links at the top or bottom of the page
- Within the site, the right-hand navigation bar helps you navigate between topics and pages. The right-hand navigation bar contains links to the major topics and content within the section you are browsing. The topic you are currently browsing is indicated by a highlight. To jump to another topic, simply click one of the other links.
As you move around the site, a ‘breadcrumb’ trail displays at the top of the page:

- Another way to navigate the site is the mega-menus which are located in Our Work and YourHealth sections. Hover over these options from any page and you will see a list of quick-access links. These are supported by an A-Z listings which can be used to drill down to any topic.
Searching this site
Use the search function on this site to help you find specific information quickly. Use the search text box on every page. Once you have search results, you can apply filters to refine your results.
In the Publications section, the search has an advanced search function: you can find what you are looking for by subject and date and apply filters to refine search results.
